One of the Core Values of Salem First Christian Church is “A Praying Church.”
We know this is a very important part of our worship.
There are several opportunities for group praying.
Tuesday Evening Prayer Groups
Tuesday evening a group meets in the Chapel at 6:45 pm for 45 minute prayer time. At this time we worship in song, discuss the different ways to pray, read over the prayer concerns of the members of this congregation and have silent prayer and meditation.
Tuesday evenings following the group prayer, several members adjourn to the Library for Intercessory Prayer Time. In depth prayer is then offered for situations, people and concerns of members and friends. The time begins at 7:30 pm ending close to 9 pm.
Prayer on Sunday Mornings
On Sunday morning we offer two separate prayer times for the services that take place that day. We pray for the Minister, Sunday School teachers, Youth activities, and our staff and administrators of the Church Board. The scripture of the day is prayed over as well as our visitors from the previous Sunday. The place for the “Prayer Band” is the Angelus Room off the Narthex in the main lobby. The times are 9:10 am and 10:30 am.

We have available an all church prayer chain that is sent via email. Notification to the church office will add you to this group listing.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
This is a time of crocheting and knitting shawls to be given to friends and members of the congregation. Each shawl is blessed in prayer. Beginners are welcome to join in. They meet on the second Wednesday of each month, in the parlor (Rm. 206) at 1:00-2:30 PM
